something unfolding

An immersive mural painted with black acrylic paint on my studio walls. This mural was inspired by the themes and ideas present in the recorded talks and lectures of my late grandfather William S. Hatcher who was a professor, mathematician, philosopher and Baha'i scholar. His talks about the relationship between Love, Power, and Justice and Moral and Spiritual Development were especially inspiring to me . This mural represents something unfolding; a conversation, a memory, a relationship, an idea, a realization, a journey. Whatever that something is to you. This piece was featured in the UBC BFA Graduating Exhibition Weird Flux in 2019 in Vancouver, Canada.

something unfolding
something ongoing
a longing for

knowing
feeling
willing
a melting
ice cracking

There is a principle of composition.
All material elements composed of parts.
undivided
whole.

A diverse manifestation of energy, in many different forms.

the motion in your heart
the waves of your brain
the motion of the planets around the sun.
All of reality is waves.

giving
receiving
constructing
inside
a womb
a community
an illusion.

I trace them.
I trace backwards.
Asleep in the ocean
Awake in my dreams.

autonomous
connected
authentic
becoming

in my movement and my stillness
uplifted
in search of poetic revelation.
for a moment
I folded inside out.
